The product
It installs inside an existing cold room, trailer or container, draws little power, and does not change the organoleptic characteristics of the produce.
The capture cycle
Ethylene is bound out of the circulating air onto a high-surface-area adsorbent. When the bed approaches saturation the unit switches to regeneration, drives the captured gas off the material, and returns the bed to duty. Nothing is dosed into the chamber and nothing is consumed on a schedule.
Chamber air is pulled through the unit by a low-draw fan. No change to the cold chain's set point, humidity target or air-exchange plan.
Ethylene molecules adsorb onto the bed as the air passes. The mechanism is physical capture at storage temperature and pressure — no combustion, no reagent, no by-product.
Working capacity is sized to chamber volume and load, so a packhouse cold room and a reefer trailer run different cycle lengths from the same architecture.
The bound ethylene is released off the bed and the material goes back into duty. The cartridge is not a disposable filter.
The loop closes on itself — the same material serves the whole storage season.
Installation
No new building, no change to how the fruit is handled. The unit is mounted in the airflow and powered from the chamber's existing supply.
Chamber volume, product mix, typical holding time, and the air-handling layout. Four numbers is enough to size a unit.
A standard supply point inside the chamber. Draw is low enough to add to a trailer or container without reworking its electrical setup.
Mounted where chamber air already circulates, so the unit sees the whole volume rather than one corner of it.
The cycle runs unattended. Cartridge regeneration is part of the cycle, not a service visit.
Pilot results
The device was built and validated inside the Nano4Fresh project at Instituto Superior Técnico. Testing ran at pilot scale under storage-representative temperature, humidity and load.
We are placing units in working cold rooms and refrigerated transport. Send us the chamber and we will size a pilot for it.
